Chicago's 1998 Christmas album, Chicago 25, released in late August 1998, was a record warmly received by fans, not only because it was, many believed, about time the group released some Xmas tunes, but equally because the album marked a return to the more classic Chicago sound and horn arrangements, rather than the softer more ballad-heavy sound featured for much of the '80s and '90s. Not at all seen as just an exercise for Chicago to half-heartedly play some Christmas songs - as many such albums become - instead, they gave the songs the full Chicago treatment, with interesting and innovative re-imaginings of the standard Christmas songs, with spirited and funky horn arrangements, and the whole nine yards. Featured here is an excellent quality radio broadcast from the group s 8th December 1998 L.A. House of Blues show, where we get a mixture of their Christmas songs and their classic hits. Overall an excellent concert which clearly delights every last fan in attendance.
